I think we can all agree that this past year was crazy, and crappy for many of us. It introduced a global pandemic, economic crisis, racial injustice, loneliness, losses, increased anxiety, depression, and fear. I could make an endless list of all the challenges we faced this past year.
However, this year truly opened my eyes. 2020 was the year that educated me. 2020 taught me to stand up for what I believe in, and to stand up for others, the importance of gratitude, how to enjoy spending time alone, to slow down, and lastly how to find happiness in the simple things.
As a result, 2020 made me think about who I wanted to be, where I wanted to be, and what I wanted in life. This year, I decided that I'm focusing on a theme to define what I want 2021 to look like. My theme will act as my guide and my reminder to help me make more choices that will lead me into becoming the person I want to be.
Yearly Theme: Simplicity.
To me, simplicity means identifying what's important and eliminating the rest.
Simplicity is something that I have been thinking about for months. I want an uncluttered environment, space to breathe, clarity, routines, stronger and healthier relationships, to feel less stressed about unnecessary things, and honestly, I just wanted freedom. I want to regain control over my life and put my time and energy into the things things that actually matter to me. And well, screw everything else.
This is why my yearly theme for 2021 is simplicity.
Recently, I re-read one of my blog posts, overcoming the pressure of being productive. I needed that reminder that growth is growth no matter how small. It was time for me to slow things down and to be more present. This year is going to be full of so many amazing changes and I can't wait to start making improvements. I'll soon be sharing all of the ways I have, or ways I will be, simplifying my life! I will link it here when posted. I'll also be keeping mini-updates via Instagram and sharing inspirational quotes on my Twitter!
