I am obsessed with my reset routine. This Sunday reset has made me LOOK FORWARD to Sundays! Rather than dreading the fact that the weekend is coming to an end, I changed my perspective and made it enjoyable.
What is a reset routine and why do we need one? Life can get busy and feel messy and chaotic. Reset routines helps us stay on track, reset our mind, body, and space and prepare for the upcoming week. I decided to choose Sundays for my reset day because I work my full-time job Monday to Friday and prefer to have the entire day to reset.
Your weekly reset is 100% personal and based on what you want to focus on in your life. It's a day just for you. For example, I still like to wake up early on the weekends. This is just something I enjoy and prefer. Today, I'm going to list a few things that I do on my reset day to kick start my week!
My Sunday Reset Routine
1. Wash my bedsheets and laundry.
The very first thing I like to do is wash my sheets. I try to make my bed every morning, so rather than making it, I pretty much take it apart on reset days. I do wash my sheets on a weekly basis, and it's also highly recommended to do so. Once my sheets are done I put them back onto my bed right away. I have to do this ASAP because it really sucks when you're ready to go to bed and as soon as you walk into your room, you realize you forgot to put the sheets back on. (This has happened more times than I'd like to admit). This simple task helps make me feel refreshed and ready to start the day.
2. Coffee and brain dump.
Okay, this is by far my favorite part of Sunday. While my sheets are getting cleaned, I like to make myself some coffee and pull out my digital planner and start doing a brain dump.
Brain dumps are a simple and extremely effective way to jot dot whatever you need to clear your mind, organize your thoughts, and help prioritize your tasks and responsibilities. I think this is such a great way to start a reset day or any day for that matter.
Plus coffee... which is pretty self-explanatory :).
3. Plan my week.
After my brain dump session, I like to reflect on my past week and start planning for the new week ahead. I don't go into extreme detail with my weekly planning. For the most part, I just like to get an idea of what I need to work on and if I have any events going on that week, and what my work schedule looks like (currently working from home and in the office twice a week).
One thing I do want to get a little more on top of is my meal planning. If anyone has any tips on meal planning, leave them in the comments!
4. De-clutter.
By the end of the week, it's no surprise that some things aren't in their proper places (at least for me this isn't shocking at all). My desk is usually one of the places I need to de-clutter. Receipts, papers, work-related folders and so many other things find their way onto my desk. On Sundays, I like to clear off my desk, wipe it down it, and just place items back to where they belong.
No, I don't do a deep clean on my reset day. Firstly, I want my reset day to be productive, but still relaxing and deep cleaning just isn't relaxing for me. I don't like to clean on weekends as much because this is honestly the only time I have
5. Pamper routine.
Is it even a reset day if you don't pamper yourself? HECK, NO.
I like to pamper myself more towards the end of the day because there is nothing better than getting into clean sheets with a nice clean body (it's the little things like this that I live for lol). My pamper routine consists of my normal skincare with a little extra fun added to the equation. I like to use a hair mask, face mask, wax if I need to, do my teeth whitening, and exfoliate. If anyone is interested in knowing my skincare routine I can make a post on my favorite products because they have changed everything for me!
6. Folding my laundry.
This step in my reset day is super important because if this is not done on Sunday it will sit in the basket for all of eternity.
Folding laundry is not one of my favorite tasks, so I try to make it more enjoyable by pairing it with things that I love. For example, making myself a warm drink, getting myself comfortable, putting on my current favorite movie or TV show. This makes the process less dreadful because folding laundry on its own sounds crazy boring.
I think everyone needs to have a day in their week where they sit down and get their crap together. Everyone's schedule is different, so choose a day that works best for you. This doesn't need to be an all-day event, sometimes it can be maybe just a couple of hours of your day. Whatever you feel makes your week feel a little more organized and balanced.
